The Laser Toner Cartridge – Everything You Need to Know
A laser toner cartridge is the part of the laser printer that is removable; it is what provides the printer with the ink to relay the images and text to paper. This type of cartridge is filled with powder fine ink, plastic particles and either black or some other types of coloring. It usually slips into the laser printer and works in conjunction with electro statically charged particles and heat rollers to transfer images and text to paper.
A typical laser toner cartridge will last approximately two thousand pages there are some high end ones that will produce approximately three to four thousand pages before it needs to be replaced.
These cartridges can be quite expensive sometimes it exceeds the cost of the printer itself. Some printers wind up in the trash heap just because the cartridges are more expensive than buying the same printer new. There are generic varieties of laser toners which is usually a small part of the cost of the manufacturer’s brand.
There are two types of cartridge that you can find: original or OEM and compatible. The original or OEM is the cartridge type that is supplied with the printer, and often times the manufacturer suggests replacing with the OEM. This advice is not really in the best interest of the consumer because typically an OEM product is the most costly product. Many of the large printer manufacturers sell printers at rock bottom prices and make the profit on selling the ink to the consumer to replace the old one.
The second type is the compatible variety. The compatible cartridges are usually the generic brand. Typically compatible cartridges can fit more than one brand of printer. This drives down the cost of them. The compatible type is usually only a fraction of the cost of the OEM kinds that you find.
Buying a laser toner cartridge can be done online or at any office supply store, but because they can can be quite expensive, all options should be investigated. Generic brand cartridges can save some money but before purchasing check on consumer reviews to be sure that they work the way they are supposed to.
